What Are We Doing ?
REEF RESTORATION
We have differents methods to restore the reef such as Biorock technology, reef gardening and coral propagation. Learn about those methods by contacting us.
ECO
EDUCATION
We offer a whole range of ecotourism information and tours. When you drop by, you can help the island even if you’re here for only a short visit.
Gili Eco Trust works closely with FMPL who manages the waste collection and waste management on Gili Trawangan. We also organise weekly beach cleans up every Friday evening.
ANIMAL
WELFARE
We love all animals on and around the Gili Islands. We help to protect the turtle population and continue to support projects such as Cats of Gili and STUD Horse Stables.
How Does It Work ?
Raising awareness. To make things and behaviors really evolve, the Gili Eco Trust raises awareness amongst local inhabitants and tourists.
Every week, Gili Eco Trust's crew teaches three local school's classes about ecology and English. During 45 minutes, children from ten to sixteen years old think about solutions to preserve natural richness of Indonesia.
But the Gili Eco Trust does not only target children. To make every person on Gili islands improve his/her behavior, posters and notice boards have been put up. Gili Eco Trust offers to come to businesses to train their staff in eco-behavior (such as waste segregation or composting). In the same way, Gili Eco Trust explain why coral is important and how to behave to not damage it.
Project We Support
There are many projects across the Gili Islands that we are pleased to be able to support. We do not have the resources to manage everything ourselves so we are happy to support individuals who do their bit to make the islands better for all.
